Ladies take down Vikings

Start the new year with 65-42 win

POSTED: January 7, 2014 4:35 p.m.

The Dawson County Lady Tigers started the new year with a convincing 65-42 win over East Hall on Jan. 3. With the win, Head Coach Steve Sweat's team is currently 12-3 overall and 3-1 in region 7-AAA play.

Friday's game got out of hand early with the Lady Tigers taking a 15-4 first quarter lead behind the outstanding offensive play of junior post player Sheyenne Seabolt.

Seabolt finished the game with 30 points and 18 rebounds for a double-double.

Dawson County extended it's lead during the next 8 minutes to take a 28-15 advantage into halftime.

Sweat's team continued to pour on the offense in the second half and outscored the Lady Vikings 37-27 for the 23-point win.

"I don't know a better way to start 2014," Sweat said. "We had good intensity and shared the ball on offense, with nine different players getting to score."

Sweat said Seabolt had a good game for her team.

"Sheyenne was great on offense and really did a great job on the boards with rebounds. Overall, I thought everyone played really well and it was sure good to get that region win," he said.

Also scoring for the Lady Tigers were: Jordan Moore - nine, Haley Burgess and Ashley Parker - six each, Karlie Bearden - four, Peytan Porter and Brooke Wende - three each, Ansley Costley and Erin Chatham scored two points each.

The Lady Tigers will play host to North Hall at 7 p.m. Friday before going on the road to face West Hall at 6 p.m. Jan. 14. Both games are Region 7-AAA affairs.
