Take an evening drive along Cothran Road off Hwy. 136 in Dawson County and you're likely to see Ryan and Joseph Ciafone in matching Christmas sweaters waving as neighbors slow down to see the brothers' elaborate display of holiday lights.

"It's absolutely beautiful," comes from within a car traveling along the country road.

"Merry Christmas," younger brother Ryan Ciafone said. "That's the reason why we do it."

Both in their 30s, the brothers each have developmental handicaps.

"We are very, very proud of them. In their little lives, it's all about Christmas," said mom Donna Ciafone.

The brothers begin planning for the Christmas holidays during the family's annual summer vacation in Florida, according to their parents.

"That's their thing in life. They love Christmas. If they could go house to house to decorate for Christmas, they'd do it...for free," she said.

The brothers begin decorating the home the first week of November.

"It's a lot of work, but it's worth it," Joseph Caifone said.

With thousands of lights lining the house, drive way and paths throughout the front lawn, the holiday display also features reindeer grazing in the grass.

"It's so pretty. What would I do without them," Donna Ciafone said. "The only problem is they don't know when to stop. It keeps going and going and going."

Ryan and Joseph answered almost in unison.

"You know you're done putting lights up when the fuses start popping," Ryan said.

Joseph added: "When there's no other outlets to plug anything into, then you know you're done."

In addition to sharing their Christmas cheer with the community, the brothers this year added a new feature inside the home for family and friends.

"They transformed the sun room. It's all Christmas too," said dad Bob Ciafone. "And they do this all themselves. We really don't help out at all."

The Ciafones, who live at 537 Cothran Road, invite the community to see the lights through the end of the year.
