Sewell T. Hays

Sewell T. Hays, 72, of Dawsonville, died Dec. 7, 2013


Born Oct. 3 1941, in Jackson, Ky., to the late Clarence and Clara Mae Hays, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 10 years, having moved from Jasper, Ala.

Mr. Hays was employed in the coal mining industry by The Drummond Company for 30 years. While living in Jasper, he coached little league baseball for 20 years.

He was very devoted to his family and enjoyed working on antique automobiles.

Sewell attended Lighthouse Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Peggy Walker Hays of Dawsonville; children, Tammy and Roy Fox of Middleton, Ohio, Kim and Freddy Shubert of Jasper, Ala., Michelle and Jason Ingram of Bloomingdale, Ill., Matt and Holly Hays of Alpharetta, Tracie and Jason Cagle of Dawsonville; sisters, Lydia Lewis of Conyers, Joyce Kist of Stone Mountain; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 10 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Blackstock officiating. At his request, Mr. Hays was cremated following his funeral service.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
