Vera Parks Hulsey

Vera Parks Hulsey, 93, of Dawsonville, died Feb. 2, 2009.


She celebrated her 93rd birthday, Jan. 31. Those who knew her would say that she was taken by God's angel band to a far more glorious celebration.


Vera was a native of Dawson County, who graduated from Dawsonville High School in 1933 and lived an exemplary Christian life in the county.


As a beautiful young lady, she joined Clint Hulsey in matrimony and three children were born to the marriage.


After the death of her husband, Vera worked as a faithful employee in the Department of Revenue of Georgia, where she retired. Friends knew her, not only as a dedicated mother, but also as a dear and fearless loyal friend.


In addition to her husband, Vera was preceded in death by her parents, H.E. and Ola Parks; grandson, Eddy Glennon Grogan, as well as a number of brothers and sisters.


Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Jerry and Peggy Hulsey of Dawsonville, Joanna and Glennon Grogan of Cumming; Stephen and Linda Hulsey of West Point; grandchildren, Clint Hulsey, Melissa and Greg Sheriff, Ginger Power, David and Julie Grogan, Stephanie and Tommy Falkenberry, Michael and Carrie Hulsey; nine great-grandchildren; sister and husband, Bernice and Pete Gilleland of Dawsonville; brother-in-law, C.I. Robinson of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.


Worship and memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 at First Baptist Church of Dawsonville with the Pastor Jim Gaines and the Dr. Herbert Robinson officiating.


Interment followed in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, donations were requested to be made to the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville Building Fund, P.O. Box 1358, Dawsonville, GA 30534.


Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
