Dawson County High School Head Football Coach Jeff Lee had a unique opportunity in August to watch three former Tigers perform against each other when Union College matched up against the University of the Cumberlands.

Local graduates Zack Martin and Levi Wilson play for Union, while Levi Brown is a starting defensive back for the University of the Cumberlands.

Despite the lopsided score, Cumberlands won 51-21, it was a chance not too many head coaches get to experience in their career.

"This is the first time ever in my career that I had three play in the same game," Lee said. "All three have performed well this season and are valuable parts of their respective teams."

Martin is a starting running back for Union College and has seen extensive playing time this season with seven carries for 40 yards. His teammate Wilson is a receiver, he also plays on special teams. He has recorded three catches for 25 yards.

Brown is a stalwart in the defensive backfield with 13 tackles and a recovered fumble this season.

"It was a very proud day to be able to see those guys from Dawson County there on the college football field playing against each other. Knowing where they came from as high school players to now is very special. There were several plays during the game where they were on the football field at the same time," Lee said.

The University of the Cumberlands is currently ranked No. 2 in NAIA with a perfect 6-0 record and will play at Reinhardt College in Waleska at noon on Saturday.

Union College is struggling this season with a 2-5 record, three losses have come by a touchdown or less. The Bulldogs play at home this weekend against Kentucky Christian.
