Ladies pick up big win

POSTED: September 10, 2013 3:41 p.m.

Coach Jeff Compton and his Dawson County softball team moved its record to 3-1 in Mountain League play last week with a 16-1 win over the Pickens County middle school program.

The game was played in Dawsonville.

Maggie Shandera picked up the win recording eight strikeouts in three innings. The game was called due to the "mercy rule."

"I thought all players hit really well against Pickens," Compton said.

Dawson County has an overall record of 3-3.

The Lady Tigers will play at Fannin on Friday.

First pitch will be at 4:30 p.m.
