Dawson County High School Head Softball Coach Jimmy Pruett got his Lady Tiger softball team back on track Aug. 15 with an 11-7 win at North Hall High School. Not only was it Dawson County's second win of the season, but it was a Region 7-AAA victory.

The Lady Tigers are 2-2 overall and more importantly 1-0 in region play.

Dawson County will host its first home game tomorrow against region foe East Hall.

First pitch for the varsity will be at 5:55 p.m. The junior varsity team will play at 4:30 p.m.

The game was tense for the Lady Tigers. After jumping ahead 7-1, Dawson County had to use a 4-run top of the seventh inning to come away with the win.

Three costly errors hurt the Lady Tigers.

A drop in left field, a miss-played ball at second base and a throwing error to first led to six runs for the Lady Trojans, letting them back into the game.

North Hall loaded the bases in the sixth inning, trailing 7-4. With two outs, a ground ball to the pitcher was played beautifully but the throw to first was errant and allowed all three runners to score to tie the game.

Dawson County answered in the seventh. Emily Hunsucker led off the inning with a single. Katelynn Simpson beat out a sacrifice bunt that put runners on first and second. After a fly out to center field and a fielder's choice, fifth batter Tabitha Morrison hit a bullet to short stop that was impossible to play. Hunsucker scored on Morrison's RBI putting Dawson back in front 8-7.

Savannah Haberkam and Brooke Wende both followed with fielder's choice RBI's that put the Lady Tigers ahead to stay 11-7.

Lady Tiger pitcher Martie Rogers closed out North Hall in the seventh to pick up her second win of the season.

Rogers finished with six strikeouts, while allowing five hits.

Following a recent lack of hitting, the team rebounded for 10 hits in the game.

Picking up two hits were Hunsucker, Simpson, Joy Lewis and Wende. Also collecting singles were Rogers and Morrison.

Wende and Haberkam had clutch at-bats that drove in three and two RBI's respectively.

"I really liked the way our players fought back," Pruett said. "This is a tough place to play. Clutch hitting by Savannah (Haberkam), and Brooke (Wende) were keys to our comeback."
