Chase disrupts Ga. 400

POSTED: July 17, 2013 4:00 a.m.

A Riverdale man faces a litany of charges in Forsyth and Dawson counties following a car chase July 12 on Ga. 400.

Mamadou Diallo, 28, fled when Dawson County Sheriff's deputies attempted to stop him on suspicion of a fraudulent credit card activity at a drug store near the North Georgia Premium Outlets.

The chase started about 7:45 p.m. and continued south down Ga. 400 into north Forsyth, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Josh Hedden.

The state patrol and Forsyth County Sheriff's Office picked up the chase at Bottoms Road, where Diallo crossed the median and headed south in the northbound lanes of Ga. 400, Hedden said.

At the intersection of Martin Road, Diallo swerved back to the southbound side of the corridor.

About 8:05 p.m., Hedden stopped the car with a pit maneuver just north of Hwy. 369.

The state patrol filed more than a dozen traffic charges against Diallo in Forsyth County for the chase. They ranged from fleeing and attempting to elude to reckless driving and driving on the wrong side of a divided road, among others.

Diallo was booked into the Dawson County Detention Center, where he faces nearly a dozen traffic violations.

"Numerous additional charges are expected related to the fraudulent credit cards," according to Dawson County Sheriff's spokesman Maj. Tony Wooten.
