Love is in the air in Dawson County.

Dawson County Magistrate Court kicks off Valentine weekend with free marriage and vow renewal ceremonies at the Historic Dawson County Courthouse.

“We vow to make your vows memorable,” said Court Administrator Ann Grady.

Make your special event part of history by holding your wedding or vow renewal ceremony on Feb. 13, in the oldest working courthouse in Georgia.

Judges will be available from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The courthouse will feature décor for the occasion and light refreshments will be served.

Bring your camera to capture this momentous occasion.

Chief Magistrate Judge Lisa Thurmond said that a marriage license from Probate Court will be necessary for new marriages, but not required for vow renewals.

“It is an honor and privilege to offer these services,” said Thurmond.

“This will be the first year we have done this, and it will be an annual event.”

According to Thurmond, several people have signed up and she expects more within the coming week.

To schedule your ceremony, contact the magistrate court at (706) 344-3730.

Space is limited; so schedule by Feb. 9.
