Evelyn Thompson Sheffield

Evelyn Thompson Sheffield, 79, of Cumming, died Nov. 12, 2012.

Born March 23, 1933, in Cherokee County, to the late Millard and Mattie Thompson, she had lived in Cumming since 1997, having moved from Gainesville.

A homemaker, Mrs. Sheffield was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Her husband, Clarence Sheffield; son, James M. "Mickey" Sheffield; sister, Janeen Tatum; and a brother, James Thompson, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Adriana Sheffield of Cumming, Ronnie and Monica Sheffield of Alto, Steven and Wendy Sheffield of Suwanee; grandchildren, Richard Sheffield, Ryan Sheffield, Christopher Mohalick, Stephanie Vaughn, Tascha Franklin, David Sheffield; six great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rodney Pilcher officiating. Interment followed in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
