Spring practice came to an end with an annual scrimmage game Saturday at Tiger Stadium.

The game is the conclusion of 10 days of spring practice led by Dawson County High School Head Coach Jeff Lee.

More than 80 players, grades 9-12, participated in spring practice this May.

Lee said he is excited about how things went during that time period.

"I thought we got a lot accomplished during the spring. It was great to see our guys get physical with each other. It was also good to come away with no major injuries," Lee said.

The team appeared well rehearsed on both offense and defense during the scrimmage.

Playing above the music piped into the stadium speaker, both teams hit hard and fast during goal line practice.

The scrimmage on Saturday was very physical with the white team coming out on top by a 14-0 score.

An emphasis this spring according to Lee was to find depth at defensive back and wide receiver with the graduation of several starters on that side of the ball, which included standouts Bruce Clark and Will Anglin.

Also a concern was the replacement of graduating quarterback Tyler Dominy, who controlled the offense for most of the last four years.

Zach Buchan seems ready to take over Dominy's place at quarterback for Lee's team.

Running back is another area that Lee and his staff are trying to fortify following the graduation of Zach Martin.

The offensive and defensive lines seem to be a strength heading into the season opener in August.

"This summer we will keep trying to get stronger. We will work on our agilities and footwork. Our kids are determined to get back in the state playoffs again," Lee said.
