Moon Shine run is Saturday

POSTED: April 17, 2013 4:00 a.m.

Grab your sneakers for the inaugural Moon Shine Run at Atlanta Motorsports Park on Saturday.

Proceeds from the moonlit 5K and 10K run will benefit United Way for Dawson County, which provides monetary support to 14 area service agencies.

"We're expecting anywhere from 35 to 100 runners for the races that will be ran at twilight with cars lighting the track," said organizer Chris Gaines. "This race is unique because we're having it at the closed motorsports park and because it's a night race."

The 10K begins at 7 p.m., followed by the 5K at 8 p.m.

Entry fee is $35 and can be completed online at www.active.com by April. 18 or at the park the day of the race.

For more information, call (770) 781-4110.
