A Dawsonville woman has been charged in connection with the alleged embezzlement of more than $27,000 from a Gainesville business.

According to authorities, Amanda Kaye Phillips, 31, reportedly stole 52 blank checks from Bulldawg Collision, where she had worked for nearly a decade.

Investigators say she then wrote the checks out to cash, endorsed them with her signature and deposited them into her personal bank account.

"She deposited 18 of the checks at her bank here in Dawsonville," said Dawson County Sheriff's Investigator Jarrett Simpson.

Phillips faces dozens of charges in Dawson and Hall counties.

In Dawson, those include three felony counts of forgery in the first degree, one count of felony theft by taking and 15 misdemeanor counts of forgery in the fourth degree.

Dawson County Detention Center records show Phillips was released after posting $10,200 bond March 21, the same day of her arrest.

Simpson said Phillips also faces charges in Hall, though the exact counts could not be confirmed Tuesday afternoon.
