Margie Weaver

Margie Weaver, 74, of Dawsonville, died March 18, 2013.

Born July 31, 1938, in Pickens County, she lived in Dawson County for the past 55 years.

Margie served as the first and only director of the Dawson County Senior Center, a position she had held for 29 years.

Margie dedicated her life to helping others, especially Dawson County's seniors, and all the programs associated with the center.

Prior to her position at the senior center, she was employed at Sweet-Orr for 25 years and was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Pickens County for 61 years.

Her husband, Gordon Weaver; and her father, Omada Childers, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Sharon Reagan, Danny Weaver, both of Dawsonville; mother, Estelle Childers of Jasper; grandchildren, Randy and Jennifer Reagan, Samantha and Michael Bruce, Chrissy Weaver, Jade Weaver; great-grandson, Chase Bruce, all of Dawsonville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda Wigington, Rachel and Mickey Howard, Flondell and James Thompson, Patsy and Bill Webster, all of Jasper, Winnie Hopper of Ranger, JoAnn and Jerry Phillips of Calhoun; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon and Erika Childers, Lenard and Gladys Childers, Wayne and Nancy Childers, all of Jasper, Edward and Monika Childers of Calhoun, Tim and Kim Childers of Cumming; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. March 21, at the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville with the Rev. James Thompson and Nathan Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
