ASK THE EXPERTS

Etowah Lodge’s annual spaghetti dinner Saturday

POSTED: February 20, 2013 4:00 a.m.

A nearly 30 year tradition continues Saturday when the Etowah Lodge No. 222 Free and Accepted Masons open the lodge for an annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser.

"We've been doing this probably 28 years or so," said James Swafford, longtime lodge member.

Dinner will be served from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and is available for eat-in or takeout. Plates at $5 each include a healthy portion of spaghetti topped with the lodge's secret marinara recipe, salad, bread and homemade desserts.

"We developed the recipe for the sauce ourselves years ago," Swafford said.

Last year, the lodge served between 600 and 700 meals.

Proceeds benefit a variety of community service projects the lodge supports throughout the year.

Tickets are available at the door or in advance by calling Swafford at (706) 265-2249 or Bill Sexton at (706) 216-5438.
