Three will represent DCHS at state traditionals

Gavin Brown, Evan Kells and Keaton Toal will represent the Dawson County wrestling team at the State Traditionals in Macon this weekend.

The tournament will be held this weekend at the Macon Centreplex.

Class AAA will begin wrestling at 1 p.m. on Friday.

Dawson County wrestled at the Area State Sectionals over the weekend in Ringgold.

The top four wrestlers in each weight class advanced to the state meet.

Brown, a sophomore, captured first place in the 182-pound weight class.

The Tiger closed out the season with an impressive 50-2 record. He will wrestle a familiar foe in Hayden Dilbeck from Banks County in the first round at state. Dilbeck, a senior, has a 37-10 record.

Kells at 170-pounds finished in fourth place at state sectionals. Kells will wrestle Daivon Ledford from Jackson High School. Ledford is 45-1 on the season, while Kells sports a 49-5 record.

At 195-pounds, Toal will represent Dawson County.

Toal came in third place over the weekend and will compete against Andrew Posten, a senior, from White County. Posten is currently 31-8 this season. Toal comes into the state tournament with a 26-4 record.

Serving as alternates will be Cory Jenkins and Harley Vaughan for the Tigers.

"I am real excited about the state championships," said head coach Arron Haynes. "I feel like the ones that were able to pull through will do well in their weight classes."
