A nationally known doughnut chain has submitted plans to build a location off Ga. 400.

The Development Authority of Dawson County last week announced Dunkin' Donuts has submitted plans for the construction of a standalone building, north of the outlet mall.

"This has been a two year process," said Charlie Auvermann, executive director of the development authority. "We are very excited to have a nationally known chain come to Dawson County."

According to Dawson County community development records, the eatery will sit on about 2.38 acres at the southwest intersection of Ga. 400 and Industrial Park Road.

The new franchise is part of the Massachusetts-based company's long-range strategy to expand along the Ga. 400 corridor, which has generated a renewed interest by commercial and industrial scouts in recent months.

"If you look back at 2012 there were a number of businesses that opened in our county and most have been very successful," he said. "These are people with a belief in this country and this county. This new franchise is certainly an example of that faith."
The doughnut shop is expected to bring about 20 new jobs to the county.
