James Clifford Dowdy

James Clifford Dowdy, 83, of Cumming, died Jan. 20, 2013.

Born in Tucker, he was the son of the late John and Elsie Dowdy.

His beloved wife, Geneva Dowdy; and brother, Robert Dowdy, preceded him in death.

James retired from Gaylord Container Corporation. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his sons, Kenneth Dowdy, David Dowdy, both of Cumming, Steve Dowdy of Dawsonville; sisters, Bullah Carter of Buford, Alice Williams of Woosley; nine much-loved grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 24 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain. The family will receive friends all day Jan. 23 at the funeral home.

McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
