POSTED: January 15, 2013 4:37 p.m.

The Dawson County Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team improved its overall record to 5-2 with a convincing 38-14 win at Pickens County Middle School last week.

The five wins puts Dawson County in second place overall in the Mountain League.

Head coach Jonathan Tinsley's team held a slim 18-12 lead at halftime of the Jan. 10 game.

The Tiger defense played superbly in the second half and allowed Pickens only two points during the final two quarters.

Kolton Brumbelow and Parker Cantrell led Dawson County in scoring with 10 points each.

Five other Tigers reached the scoring column.

Colin Glover and Joseph Cronan added eight points each. Austin Young and Jacob Branson scored three points each and Corey Hammond finished out the scoring with two points.

The Tigers will be back in action at 5:15 p.m. tomorrow at Fannin County Middle.
