Riverview boys remain undefeated

POSTED: December 25, 2012 4:30 p.m.

The Riverview Middle School seventh grade boys team remained undefeated after defeating rival Dawson County Middle, 45-32, last week.

The Eagles improved their record to 8-0 with the Dec. 17 win.

Connor Bearden led the Eagles with an impressive 20 points for head coach Mark Thomason's team.

Eagle Cullen Reed also scored in double digits with 11 points.

"This game was a total team effort," Thomason said. "We played really well against the press. I thought our guys rebounded really well and got a ton of second chance points."

Dawson County led, 7-1, before Riverview responded with a, 25-5, run to close out the first half leading 25-12.

The Eagles opened the third quarter with two quick baskets.

Riverview outscored Dawson County, 13-8, to take a, 38-20, lead after three quarters.

"We had six guys contribute to the scoring tonight. I was really happy with how the guys handled themselves when Dawson County made their run at the start of the game," Thomason said.

Ryan Gallenkamp added six points for Riverview in the win.

Both teams are currently off until January.
