Wrestlers continue to improve

Dawson County High improved its wrestling record to 17-5 with wins over North Hall and White County last week.

Under Head Coach Arron Haynes, the team defeated White County, 64-11, to begin the tri-match at North Hall High School on Dec. 11.

Tigers who pinned their opponents were: Justin Evans (106 pounds), Quade Bytendorp (120 pounds), Cory Jenkins (132 pounds), Coty Greer (138 pounds), Levi Pressley (145 pounds), Zach Guy (160 pounds), Gavin Brown (182 pounds), Keaton Toal (195 pounds) and Harley Vaughn (285 pounds).

Picking up points by way of forfeit were Colton Chester (220 pounds) and John Ramirez (152 pounds).

Anthony Underwood (113 pounds) won a close match against Bryce Burkett from White County in a 7-5 decision.

Also winning by decision were: Evan Kells (170 pounds) with a 7-0 win over Thomas Hooper and Harrison Adams (126 pounds) in a major decision, 8-0, over Cody Bearden.

In the team's second match of the evening it defeated a strong North Hall team by a, 48-30, score.

Justin Evans (106 pounds), Zach Guy (160 pounds), Evan Kells (170 pounds), Gavin Brown (182 pounds), Keaton Toal (195 pounds), Colton Chester (220 pounds) and Harley Vaughn (285 pounds) all won their matches by pin.

Both Harrison Adams (126 pounds) and Cory Jenkins (132 pounds) won by 4-2 decisions.

Adams defeated Andrew Taylor, while Jenkins defeated Tyler Goss.

Several Tiger wrestlers are sporting great records currently: Gavin Brown (25-1), Adams (21-6), Cory (24-1), Kells (25-1), Pressley (19-9) and Underwood (19-4).

Dawson County will host the Amicalola Classic Dec. 28-29.
