New this year to the 45th annual Mountain Moonshine Festival is a free concert featuring Feedback and Across the Wide on Saturday night in the Winner's Circle at the Dawsonville Municipal Complex.

Organizers encourage everyone to bring chairs or blankets to enjoy an evening of live entertainment under the stars Oct. 27. The show starts at 7 p.m.

"Every year we look for new ways to make the festival more fun for everybody," said Calvin Byrd, president of K.A.R.E. for Kids, which organizes the festival. "We think this concert is going to be a real good time."

Feedback drummer Calvin Heard said the band, whose lineup includes everything from Waylon Jennings and Drivin' N Cryin,' to Tom Petty, is excited about performing at the festival.

The band's "Whiskey Trippin' Man" is a tribute to Dawsonville racing legends Lloyd Seay, Roy Hall and Raymond Parks and the bootlegging era of Dawson County.

"We are so excited to be playing the big concert at the Moonshine Festival. We've played up on the square several times over the years, but this is (going to) be a big one," he said.

Hailing from neighboring Forsyth County, Feedback and Across the Wide are expected to draw quite a crowd.

"To share the show with our longtime buddies Across The Wide, is just the cherry on top of the sundae," Heard said. "We played a lot of shows together over the years and it's always a big crowd and an even bigger time."

Formerly known as The Internationals, the musicians in Across the Wide have been showcasing their original country music since 2008.
