Girls finish 11th at meet

Dawson County High School sophomore Cassidy Lecours led all Lady Tigers at the Mountain Invitational cross country meet at Unicoi State Park in Helen last week.

Lecours finished the hilly course Oct. 4 with a time of 22:39. The time was good for 54th place out of 169 runners.

The Dawson County team finished with 366 team points to place in 11th place out of 23 teams that ran the event.

Winning the team title was host school White County with a team total of 76 points.

Jade Perry (23:11), Taylor Grindstaff (23:30), Savanna Estes (23:38), Sara Bywaletz (24:24), Dana Little (24:44) and Christine Schmid (26:39) also ran for the Lady Tigers at the prestigious event for head coach Bryan DeRose.

Freshman Jenna Gearing, from White County High School, won the individual title with a time of 18:49. Finishing second was another freshman, Emma Garrison, of Union County. She covered the 3.1-mile course in a time of 19:22.

The Lady Tigers will run Wednesdady at the Buford Invitational.
