Dawson County High School Tiger Wesley Bearden and Lady Tiger Charley Whitmire placed in the Inaugural Rudolph Junior Golf Classic at the Chattahoochee Country Club Dec. 22.

Bearden finished second in his age group with a round of 83.

Whitmire placed third in her age group.

Both golfers battled difficult weather conditions. Temperatures were dipping below 25 degrees when the golfers teed up to begin their rounds. Most of the greens were still frozen when the event began.

Due to the weather conditions the event was cut to nine holes.

There were four boys’ and two girls’ divisions ranging from ages 11-18.

Awards were given to the top three finishers in each division.

With over 90 golfers participating, both Dawson County students did very well.

Whitmire finished third behind Gainesville’s Camryn Cole and North Forsyth’s Hannah Earle.

Bearden was only two shots off the pace, finishing behind Will Franklin of Gainesville High School.
