Eagles drop game against Clear Creek

POSTED: September 4, 2012 3:28 p.m.

The youthful Riverview Middle School football team dropped a 38-0 decision to an experienced Clear Creek Middle team last Thursday in Ellijay.

With the loss, head coach Benjy Edwards' team fell to 0-2 on the season.

"We changed the offense up a little this week and I thought the offense did a pretty good job learning the new plays. Unfortunately, we gave up a punt return for a touchdown and on the next kickoff we fumbled the ball and they recovered it," Edwards said.
Edwards said mistakes are costing his team.

"We cannot continue to make these mistakes. We must do all the little things right. We still need to tackle better on defense," he said.

The first year head coach praised the play of several Eagle players.

"I thought Trey Dixon played a good game on defense for us. Timothy Moody ran the ball real hard on offense, carrying four or five defenders on his back at times," Edwards said.

The schedule doesn't get any easier for Riverview. This week the Tigers will play host to a very good Fannin County team.

The Rebels are 1-1 with the team's only loss coming in a close game to Clear Creek, 22-16 in week one.

Kick off for Thursday's game will be at 5 p.m.
