Carlisle selected as finance chairman for state YMCA

POSTED: July 20, 2008 5:03 a.m.

Dawson County Sheriff Billy Carlisle has been selected to serve as the finance chairman for the State YMCA of Georgia in Dawson County/Dawsonville for 2008.

The finance drive is currently underway to support the State YMCA program in middle and high schools in Georgia through Hi-Y, Tri-Hi-Y and Co-ed "Y" Clubs.

"Y" Clubs are leadership development, service-oriented faith-based school clubs for some 10,000 students statewide. These "Y" Club members learn by doing. They conduct monthly school and community service projects and participate in a variety of conferences geared towards government education and Christian character.

In Dawson County, there are, currently, active "Y" Clubs at Dawson County High School and Riverview Middle School.
