Festival profiled on network

POSTED: August 15, 2012 4:00 a.m.

With less than three months left before the 45th annual Mountain Moonshine Festival, the Speed Channel is giving the nation a look at last year's festivities with an episode of My Classic Cars this weekend.

The episode, which features host Dennis Gage at last year's festival, will first air at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and again at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 26.

According to its Web site, My Classic Cars is dedicated to America's love affair with the automobile.

In the episode preview, Gage talks to KARE for Kids volunteer Tracy Hensley who tells him about the more than 700 classic cars, including the dozens of moonshine era Fords that line the town square and the Ford Galaxy national car show, that are part of the festival.

Organized annually by KARE for Kids, proceeds from the festival benefit local children in need by providing Christmas presents and other necessities.

This year's festival is Oct. 27-28 in downtown Dawsonville and will feature hundreds of vendors from across the southeast, live entertainment and a variety of family-friendly activities.

There will also be a Moonshine Run through the north Georgia mountains Oct. 26, followed by a ceremony to induct the 2012 class of Georgia Racing Hall of Fame recipients.

For more information on the festival, call (706) 216-5273.
