Helen Hamby

Helen Hamby, 87, of Dawsonville, died July 31, 2012.

Born Oct. 25, 1924, in Glenmary, Tenn. to the late James and Fannie Bell McKinney, she had lived in Dawson County since 1985, having moved from Cobb County.

Mrs. Hamby was employed at the Burger Queen for 11 years.

Her husband, Alfred Hamby; son, Kirby Hamby; and several sisters and brothers, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Steve and Cindy Hamby, Etta Cobb, all of Dawsonville; sister, June Webb of Oneida, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jimmy Hamby, Tim Hamby, Madeline Small, McKenzie Hamby; great-grandchildren, Josiah Hamby, Abigail Hamby, Karley Hamby and Karson Hamby; various other relatives also survive.

The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 2 at Bearden Funeral Home, after which Mrs. Hamby was taken to Schubert Funeral home in Sunbright, Tenn. for funeral services and interment in the Griffith Cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
